Steady enrollment declines were cited for the decision to close the capacity of Round Lake Park Area Central District April 30 American Fitness Center.
CEO Jeff Ne'ilah said the gym membership has been reduced to 218 , far below the 401 needed to achieve financial balance. He said the 17 - year-old , the center was subsidized by other income-generating programs for many years American Fitness Center.
"There are a lot of local competition as there was 17 years ago," said Ne'ilah.
As part of the installation of a nature center and pool on Hart Road , Round Lake, the center offers fitness basement basics like weights, three-way indoor mini blinds and carpet American Fitness Center.
Besides training equipment, fitness classes in other park facilities and access to the pool were part of the annual fee of $255. Ne'ilah said rather than the basement gym equipment could not accommodate seven typical private health clubs and within the district American Fitness Center.
What happens in the Round Lake area is a trend across the state, said Peter Murphy, president and CEO of the Association of Park Districts Illinois American Fitness Center. Murphy said the 168 operated sports facilities district parks "have their own" and typically attracts a family.
The plans include the fitness equipment in Round Lake Area Park District to be bought by a big operation. If this fails, Ne'ilah said the park district American Fitness Center , which would be available for purchase by the general public.
At the fitness center members who have paid for the year can not be left in the lurch when the installation ends April 30 , park district officials said.
American Fitness Center on Route 59 in Ingleside nonprofit company, committed to respect park district memberships. Ne'ilah said the private club will allow members of the park district to complete its mandate. Prorated refund will go to members who do not want to transfer to American Fitness
